Description:

Improve your paintings as you discover the key to painting water, reflections, skies and trees, in a beautiful, impressionist landscape. Learn to see and simplify your scene and create various elements of the landscape with a variety of knife strokes. We will use a combination of palette knife and brush work to achieve textural paintings with rich, luminous color. If you find your work has become too tight, the palette knife is a great way to loosen up. Even if you have never painted a landscape before, the techniques you learn will help you achieve successful results every time.

Workshop includes paints and mediums for class use, a palette knife, canvas panel, beginner booklet, color wheel, mixed media paper to experiment on and plenty of one on one attention.

Supplies to Bring:

• 1 Stretched canvas or canvas panel (11x14 up to 16x20)

• 12x16 palette paper pad or a covered plastic palette holder

• A few flat or bright paintbrushes 1/2”-1” wide, a 1/4” filbert for sketching your design, plus a thin, long round or rigor brush for details

• Box of tissues or roll of paper towels to clean your knife and/or brush

• Odorless solvent in a lidded container if you’re painting in oils

• Spray bottle for water if you’re using acrylics

• Table easel if you prefer not to paint flat on the table

• 3-4 photos that inspire you (printed or on an IPad. Cell phone images are TOO SMALL to work from)
