The advent of transparent acrylic paints has opened a whole new (old!) way of painting— Painting in transparent layers of color that make the elusive “glow” that we associate with the old masters. Students in this class will lay down several quick layers of transparent Acrylics, followed by transparent Oils, and finish with a few careful touches of opaque. I hope you will never paint the same way again!

If you are an Oil painter, you will do an underpainting using Acrylics that Dan will provide; if you are an Acrylic painter, you will do the over-painting using the non-solvent Oil paints that Dan will provide. You need to come prepared with only one OR THE OTHER of the supplies listed below-- Oils OR Acrylics.
